Each and every one of us was born with amazing intuitive abilities. Abilities that slowly slipped away from many of us as society in general became suspicious and rejected their existence.
The majority of the general population believes that telepathy, ESP and other “psi” abilities exist, but fewer than 1% of mainstream academic institutions have any faculty members interested these frequently reported experiences. Why is a topic of enduring and widespread interest met with such resounding silence in academia? The answer is not due to a lack of scientific evidence, or even to a lack of scientific interest, but rather involves a taboo.
You can see that in popular culture this subject is tackled quite a bit, but for a scientist to study it, is a taboo. This may be because taboo in science restricts inquiry, and puts a restriction on what ideas are acceptable.
There have been four studies done on science (which are disclosed), they were 1981, Congressional Research Science; 1985, Army Research Institute; 1987, National Research Council and 1989 Office of Technology Assessment. All four of them concluded, ‘something interesting was going on‘ and further investigation was necessary. This research also included skeptics.
Dr.Dean Radin, a researcher and author in the field of parapsychology, was invited by GoogleTechTalk to speak on the topic of “Science and the taboo of psi”. He is Senior Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences and four-time former President of the Parapsychological Association. He holds an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a masters degree in electrical engineering and a doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
For a decade he worked on advanced telecommunications R&D at AT&T Bell Laboratories and GTE Laboratories mainly on human factors of advanced telecommunications products and services; for over two decades he has been engaged in consciousness research.
